GETTING AROUND

Public Transit - Vancouver has an incredible public transit system. We recommend buying a Compass card when you arrive, which you can top up with credit and use on all buses and skytrains.

Cycling - With some of the best cycling infrastructure in North America, getting around the city on 2 wheels is fast and fun! The blue bikes docked all over town are part of Mobi bike share ($9.50 for 24hrs of unlimited 30 minute trips). If you want to rent a bike for a longer period of time we recommend Cycle City Tours, who offer regular bike rentals as well as some fun tours around the city.

Taxis - Are a bit expensive and unfortunately Vancouver doesn't have Uber or Lyft. Use as a last resort.

Travel for day-trips - Vancouver is best explored on foot, by bike and transit, but if you're planning on adventuring outside of the city you have a few other options. There are a number of car rental companies, and shuttle services to popular destinations like the Capilano suspension bridge, Squamish and Whistler. If you're lucky enough to have time to visit Vancouver Island or the Gulf Islands - check out BC Ferries for travel info.

Getting to/from airports

  • Vancouver (YVR): Your best bet is to take the Canada Line skytrain directly to the city centre (25 mins).  Taxis are available for about $30 each way.

  • Abbotsford (YXX): Shuttle bus transportation to Vancouver city centre takes about 1hr and costs around $50 each way.
